
Ella Marie Northrup Hurrell, 87, of Mansfield died early Tuesday morning, May 13, 2003 at Woodlawn Nursing Home. Ella was born September 13, 1915 in Chesterville, Ohio to George and Uree Mann Northrup. She was a homemaker and enjoyed baking and serving cookies to the patients of Woodlawn Nursing Home for 16 years. She was affectionately known as 'The Cookie Lady.' Ella was a member of First Friends Church. She bowled in the Wednesday morning 'Queen Bees' league at Park Lanes.
She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Albert Hurrell of Mansfield, Walter and Bonnie Hurrell of Florida and Jim and Thelma Rice of Mansfield; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Jane and Gerald Heflen of Mansfield, Hazel and John Ute of Lexington, Mary and Bob Fankhauser of Perrysville and Sue Hurrell of Columbus; twenty-two grandchildren; forty-four great-grandchildren; twelve great-great grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Ed and Jean Northrup of Bellville; a sister and brother-in-law, Theresa and Bill Bishop of Mansfield; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Russell R. Hurrell; son, Russell Butch Hurrell; grandchildren, Connie Hurrell, Rusty Emery, Mike Heflen and Michael Berry; brothers, Carl Northrup and Fred Northrup; and sisters, Hazel Cramer and Edna Payne.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Thursday, May 15 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services, conducted by Pastor Lanny Wagner and Pastor Richard Pass will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to First Friends Church.
