
Elmer E. Wilson, 77, of Mansfield died Tuesday morning, November 5, 2002 at his home following an extended illness. Mr. Wilson was born September 9, 1925 in Harlan, Kentucky to Rodney and Grace Worley Wilson and was an area resident since 1948. He retired in 1981 from the Ohio State Reformatory. Elmer was a member of Lincoln Height Southern Baptist Church on Stewart Road and was a former member of the Experimental Aircraft Association. He enjoyed building and flying gyrocopters and antique airplanes. He also enjoyed playing the guitar. Elmer was a veteran of WWII and served aboard the destroyer USS Griswold as a gunmen.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lucille Hill Wilson; two daughters, Patricia and Philip Beer of Lucas and Peggy and Les Frontz of Mansfield; four grandsons, Peter Beer, Stephen Beer, Donny Parsons and Rodney Parsons; one great-grandson, Nathanyal Parsons; four brothers, Gorman Wilson, Jesse Wilson and Harold Wilson, all of Mansfield and Rodney Wilson of Bellville; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Alma and Richard Stanton of Shelby and Thelma Lee Wilson of Mansfield; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant grandson.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Friday, November 8 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home, Saturday at 10:30 a.m., conducted by Pastor Jack Tackett. Military graveside services will follow in Lantz Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
