Ethel Jacobs

Ethel Givens Jacobs, 86, of Mansfield died, Monday afternoon, September 29, 2003 at Mifflin Care Center. Mrs. Jacobs was born August 25, 1917 in Carbondale, Illinois residing in the Mansfield area most of her life. She retired in 1979 from Automotive Molding in Warren, Michigan and also worked at Dominion Electric for 17 years. She was an active member of Mansfield Baptist Temple, Toppers and the AARP. Ethel enjoyed traveling and spent her life in service to her family and friends. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed doing so.

Surviving are her husband of 35 years, Charles Jacobs of Mansfield; one daughter, Marilyn Enck of Mansfield; one stepdaughter, Karen Jacobs of Lansing, Michigan; two step sons, Charles R. Jacobs of Michigan and James Jacobs of Florida; three grandchildren, Karen Keck and Cathy Ison both of Mansfield; and Peggy Billings of Missouri; many great-grandchildren; one sister, Viola Smith of Mansfield; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, James W. and Cora B. Givens; first husband in 1966, Ora Long; one grandson, Mike Enck; seven brothers and six sisters.

Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors on Wednesday, October 1, 2003 from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home conducted by the Rev. Dale Adkins. Burial will be in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Mansfield Baptist Temple or to Mifflin Care Center.
