

Born December 6, 1924 in Webster Springs, WV he was the son of Denver and Freda (Hoffstetter) Hamrick. A veteran of the United States Army and a former POW, he was a recipient of the silver and bronze stars and a purple heart. He was a former Webster County Police Officer, and former Corrections Officer for the Ohio State Reformatory. A “jack of all trades”, he was a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is survived by four daughters, Cheryl (Robert) Sullivan of Tacoma, WA, Sandra Wright of Cowen, WV, Sherri (Dave) Schneider of Corona, CA and Camille Johnson of Lexington, OH; a son, Eugene C. (Annette) Hamrick, Jr. of Palm Desert, CA; 10 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; a sister, Patricia (Lloyd) Walker of Mansfield; two brothers, Garl (Patty) Hamrick of Elkins, WV and Lester (Pete) Hamrick of Buchanon, WV; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Gus and Doug Hamrick.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield. Military honors conducted by the Richland County Joints Veterans Burial Detail will follow the service. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery Veterans Section. Friends may call one hour prior to the services, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., at the funeral home on Tuesday.
