

Evelyn J. Wilfong, 86, of Mansfield passed away shortly after midnight, Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at University Hospitals, Parma Medical Center. She was born June 15, 1931, in Cambridge, Ohio, to the late William and Bessie (Alloway) Callihan.
Evelyn graduated from Cambridge High School, and shortly thereafter, married Robert Paul Wilfong and they started their family. After their family moved to Mansfield, Evelyn worked for a time at Mansfield General Hospital. She later completed her certification to become an x-ray technician and worked for numerous doctors in the Mansfield area until her retirement. She was very dedicated to her family and caring for each of them was most important. Her greatest pleasure was in spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She and Robert enjoyed traveling every opportunity they were able. She was a member of V.F.W. Post #9943 where she made many lasting friendships.
She is survived by two children, Sandra (Gopi) Menon of Parma Heights, OH and Robert W. Wilfong of Mansfield; five grandchildren, Jai Menon, Amanda Wilfong, Jason (Sarah) Wilfong, Heather Wilfong and Crissy Wilfong; and numerous great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert on November 27, 2010; two sons, Bruce and Randy Wilfong; twin grandchildren; and four siblings, William Callihan, Barbara Carpenter, Linda Messaras, and David Callihan.
The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Saturday, January 13, 2018, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd. The funeral service conducted by Pastor Troy Wooten will be held in the funeral home on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. with additional visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Mansfield Memorial Park.
