
Florence B. Mintz died on Monday December 15, 2008 after a brief illness. She was a long time resident of Mansfield, Ohio and also resided in Singer Island, Florida. Mrs. Mintz came to Mansfield with her husband John in 1939 when he joined Barnes Manufacturing Company. Her civic duties included serving as an officer of Mansfield Women's Club and Temple Emanuel Sisterhood. She was a troop leader in Girl Scout's of America. Her social memberships included Westbrook Country Club, Palm Beach Yacht Club, Mansfield Sailing Club, University Club of Mansfield, University of Michigan Club of Mansfield and a charter member of Rotary Anns. Mrs. Mintz and her husband were supporters of the Richland County Foundation, Mansfield Memorial Homes and Mansfield General Hospital. She and her husband were also dedicated to the University of Michigan where they were members of the President's Club, Harry B. Hutchins Society and where they established a graduate student scholarship at the Michigan Business School.
Mrs. Mintz is survived by her three children: son and daughter-in-law Richard and Judy Mintz of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan; daughter Nancy Elizabeth Mintz of Los Angeles, California: and daughter and son-in-law Iris and Dr. Steven Ossakow of North Canton, Ohio; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband John, parents Harry and Linda Mark Buchman, and her sister Gertrude Paley.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 26, 2008 at Emanuel Jacob Congregation, 973 Larchwood Blvd., Mansfield, Ohio, 419 756-7355.
In lieu of flowers a charitable contribution may be made to the John A. Mintz Graduate Scholarship at the University of Michigan Ross School of Business or to Mansfield Memorial Homes, Att: Ray Laughman, Executive Director, 50 Blymyer Avenue, Mansfield, Ohio 44903, directed to either the John A. and Florence B. Mintz award or the Linda Mark Buchman award.
Contributions to the John A. Mintz Scholarship should be made payable to: Regents, University of Michigan and sent to: Ross School of Business, Att: Frank Wilhelme, University of Michigan, 701 Tappan St., Wyly 3700, Ann Arbor, Michigan 48109-1234.
