Frances Louise Gonzalez, 85, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 25, 2025. Born on November 4, 1940, in Mansfield to the late Andrew and RaVonna (Troupe) Hiler, Fran carried with her a deep love of family.
Fran spent most of her life in Texas, raising her family in Baytown. She built a long and respected career in the insurance industry and served her community as a notary and tax preparer. An avid computer user long before it was common, she embraced technology with enthusiasm and used it to explore her interests—especially her passion for genealogy, through which she carefully preserved family history.
Well-informed and always current on the day’s events, Fran loved good conversation. She enjoyed playing cards—especially Euchre—knitting cozy items, and taking particular delight in her collection of warm socks. Her sweet tooth was well-known, with Hershey’s Kisses being her favorite treats.
Family was the center of Fran’s world. She treasured time spent with her children, siblings, nieces, nephews, and extended family. Gatherings filled with laughter, stories, and connection were among her greatest joys.
Fran is survived by her devoted children, Greg Gonzalez and Lisa Gonzalez; her loving sisters Barbara Truax, Shannon Friend, and Pauline (Bob) Maloney; her treasured great-niece Heather Richards; beloved family friend Gary Shank; and many cherished family members and friends whose lives were brightened by her warmth and wit.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Santos Gonzalez, and her sons, Steven Mitchell and Joseph Gonzalez.
Friends may join the family for a gathering Thursday, December 4, 2025, from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM at 98 S. Diamond St, Mansfield. A committal service will be held at Mansfield Cemetery at 11:00 AM Friday, December 5, 2025.
Memorial contributions may be made to Wyandot County Council on Aging.
