Frances Shanks

Frances Marie Wolf Shanks, 95, of Ashland, died Sunday, November 11, 2007, at Crystal Care Center in Ashland. Born August 24, 1912, in Ashland, she was the daughter of Arthur E. and Ruby Bahn Wolf. Frances was a legal secretary for Gongwer and Shafer Law Office for 60 years, retiring in 1985. She was a life member of Peace Lutheran Church, a charter member of Ascesiba Chapter of the National Secretaries Association now IAAP, past president of the Ashland Business and Professional Women's Club, a member of the Senior Citizen's Center of Ashland, a member of AARP and served as secretary for Ashland Cemetery for over 60 years.

Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Daun Shanks of Ashland; three grandchildren, Claudia Shanks and Bill Shanks both of Ashland and Brian Molly Shanks of Mansfield; two step granddaughters, Kim Stitzlein of Loudonville and Kelly Hartshorne of Columbus. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Freda Pauline Wolf and Mary Wolf Pfau; and a brother, Chester A. Wolf.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2007, at the Ashland Home of Wappner Funeral Directors conducted by Pastor Virginia Pflueger. Burial will follow in Ashland Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the funeral home on Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to Peace Lutheran Church.
