

Frank “Sam” Olar, 59, of Mansfield, died Sunday, February 5, 2012 at MedCentral Mansfield. Born December 1, 1952 in Mansfield, he was the son of Frank and Thelma (Little) Olar. Sam was a veteran of the U.S. Navy for four years and worked as a guard at the Mansfield Reformatory. He was a member of the Lennox Baptist Church where he loved to sign and play the guitar. Sam loved music and had a guitar in every room of his home. A wonderful man who loved life, Sam also enjoyed motorcycles, fishing, hunting, and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Olar; children, Jason Olar, Rodger Olar, Lisa Fraley, Dustin Cyrus, Jarad Cyrus, Lacy Olar, Autumn Olar, Austin “Bubby” Olar, J. Botkins, and James Botkins; 13 grandchildren; siblings, Anna Maffitt, Brenda Zimmerman, David Olar, and Rodger Olar; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister T.T.
Friends may call Thursday, February 9, 2012 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd., Ontario. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 10, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home conducted by Pastor Herman King. Military services conducted by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Squad will follow the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
