

Gary L. Burley, 71, of Ashland, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, November 8, 2012 at MedCentral Mansfield. Born May 27, 1941 in Nelsonville, OH, he was the son of Thomas J. and Verna (McConaha) Burley. Gary worked as a machinist for Ashland Steel Molds and was a member of the Rowsburg Nazarene Church. He enjoyed playing the guitar and fishing. He especially loved spending time with his family, grandchildren, and his beloved dog, Chelbi.
He is survived by his wife of 50+ years, Sharon (Pettit) Burley; daughters, Deanna (Carl) Acker and Brenda (Ron) Drugan, both of Ashland; grandchildren, Brittany Patterson, Jade Acker, Amber Loss, Ashley Patterson, Brenna Ridgeway, and Kim Sowders; great grandchildren, William Acker-Crim, Evan Loss, Gracelyn Harrison, Brian VanBremen, Anthony Loss, Rohan Jackenheimer, Braylon Briggs, Aryanna Sowders, and his special grandson who he never gave up hope of seeing again, Jayce Geer; brothers, James (Elaine) Burley of Ashland, Martin (Cindy) Burley of New Plymouth, and Charles (Rose) Burley of Ashland; sister, Sandy (Bill) Peters of Union Furnace; and numerous nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant sister, Shirley.
Friends may call Sunday, November 11, 2012 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the Ashland Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 308 Claremont Ave., Ashland. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 12, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home conducted by Pastor Floyd Glick, Jr. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Ashland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.
