
Gary was a 1967 graduate of Loudonville High School and was a veteran of the United States Army where he was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. He worked as a truck driver for 28 years for Flexible Co. and later worked for Lake Township and for Jones Concrete & Quality Block & Supply. Gary also enjoyed cattle farming on his family farm in Loudonville which he grew up on. He was a member of the VFW Post 8586 where he served as past Commander, the American Legion #257 in Loudonville and the 40 et 8 in Loudonville.
Gary was an independent man who had a heart of gold, never complained and enjoyed life. He was a fun loving guy who loved his family and was known to his grandchildren as PawPaw.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Pamela (Shelton) Spreng; his son, Jeff (Laura) Spreng of Loudonville; his daughter, Jennifer (Jason) Johnson of Perrysville; his step daughter, Tracy (Jack) Burgess of Loudonville; seven grandchildren, Cody (Emily) Spreng, Kaylee Spreng, Jalyn Johnson, Jordyn Johnson, Jayda Johnson, Madeline Burgess and Karena Burgess; two sisters, Becky (Dean) Thompson and Mindy (Bob) Theken both of Loudonville; his favorite uncle, Bob Calhoon of Butler; and a host of nieces, nephews, dear family and very good friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
