Gene Carlisle

Gene W. Carlisle, 78, died Saturday, August 16, 2008 at his home. Born August 1930 in Mansfield, he was the son of John R. and Ida Katherine Merrill Carlisle. Gene graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1948 and attended The Ohio State University for four years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War in Germany as a Sergeant. He retired from Dallas Design & Technology, Inc. as a tool and die maker/machinist. He also worked at Leppert Machine, and Westinghouse Tool Room. Gene was a member of the First Congregational Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marilyn Massa Carlisle; daughters, Sharon Bob Richwine of Columbus, and Laurie Len Keller of Connoquenessing, Pennsylvania; son-in-law, Marty Joyce; grandchildren, Eric Adair Pittman of Mansfield, Brooke Don Bandy of Homeworth; and Andy Kim Pittman of Mansfield; great –grandchildren, Dominic Pittman and Addisyn Pittman; and nephew, Michael Carlisle of Mansfield. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Jill C. Joyce; and brother, Jack Carlisle.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, August 18, 2008 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home conducted by Rev. David Root. Military honors will be held following the service conducted by the Richland County Joint Veteran's Burial Detail. Burial will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Breast Cancer Three Day or Canine Companions for Independence.
