
George William Butterbaugh, 84, of Mansfield, died Saturday, March 27, 2010 at Mansfield Memorial Homes after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Born October 7, 1925, in Butler, Ohio, he was the son of the late Jennings Bryant and Sadie Edith Porter Butterbaugh. George was employed as an independent truck driver. A longtime resident of Mansfield, and then Akron, George retired to Lakeland, Florida with his wife, Eva. He was a man who was loved by all and will be sadly missed.
George is survived by his wife, Eva Ruth Carroll Butterbaugh of Mansfield; four children, James Dorothy Carroll of Ft. Payne, AL, Donald Beverage Alta Church of Lakeland, FL, Edgar Aggie Beverage of Hartville, OH and Dale Becky Butterbaugh of Mansfield; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; five siblings, Ardella Grace Staats, Jerlee Marcell Owen Spurgeon, Romota George Ridenour, Edith Gay Hedges and Joseph Harold Virginia Butterbaugh; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Dora Mae Arras, Russel Dale Butterbaugh, Bonnie Ruth Butterbaugh, Raymond Paul Butterbaugh and Neva Grizzel Lewis.
Friends may visit from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 1, 2010 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road, Mansfield. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Darrell Clemons officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
