
George O. Klein, 79, of Columbus, died Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at his home. Born April 7, 1929 in Cleveland, he was the son of Oscar and Sophie Klein. George served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He received a Bachelors of Engineering from Ohio University and retired from North Electric. After his retirement, George took up being a part-time math professor, teaching at NCTC and then Columbus State, where he loved all of his students. An excellent piano player, he loved classical jazz and had a very extensive LP collection. His favorite artist was Harry James. An avid sports fan, he especially loved the Cleveland Browns and Indians, and the Ohio State Buckeyes, and he also loved animals. A loving father, grandfather, and friend, George will be sadly missed by all.
He is survived by one daughter, Susan Marc Rohner of London; one son, Curtis Klein of Columbus; granddaughter, Hannah Derringer; and best friend, Ethel Haner. He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife of 55 years, Dorothy Zivkoff Klein.
Military graveside services conducted by the Richland County Joint Veteran's Burial Detail will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 4, 2008 at Mansfield Cemetery conducted by Rector Emeritus David Sipes. Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors.
