

George F. McFarland, 98, of Lucas, Ohio, passed away Monday morning, October 5, 2015, at his home. He was born in Little Washington, Ohio, on May 6, 1917, to the late Frank B. and Mary Laura (Mentzer) McFarland.
George retired in June 1975 from Westinghouse Corp. where he worked for 38 1/2 years. He was a member of Little Washington Congregational Church and served as head usher for 47 years. He served in the U.S. Army from May 1945 to July 1946. George spent many years farming and enjoyed riding his four wheeler, watching the livestock. He treasured the times spent with his family.
George is survived by two daughters, Judy Mae (Brent) Webber of New Garden, OH, and Wanda Kay (Walle Krals) Faust of Portland, OR; two sons, Tommy Alan (Alesia) McFarland of Lucas, OH and Rodney Lee McFarland of Bellville, OH: daughter-in-law, Sandy McFarland of Bellville, OH; six grandchildren; many great-grand and great-great grandchildren; numerous step grandchildren, great-grand, and great-great grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Wayne Eldon (Emma) Pritchard of TX and Mike Petrovic of Mansfield, OH; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Pritchard of Mansfield, OH; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Pauline O. Pritchard McFarland; four brothers, Mentzer, Carl, Gene and Max McFarland; and great-granddaughter, Amber Zurcher.
The family will receive friends Friday, October 9, 2015, from 4-8 p.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. The funeral service conducted by Rev. David Root will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in Little Washington Congregational Church, 2323 Washington South Road, Mansfield, Ohio, with additional visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Little Washington Cemetery with military honors presented by the Richland County Joint Veteran Burial Detail.
