George Rita

George L. Rita, 74, of Yorkwood Road died at home Sunday, October 21, 2001 after a year long illness. Mr. Rita was born July 27, 1927 in Crestline, Ohio living in the Crestline/Mansfield area all of his life. He retired from Cyclops Steel Corporation in 1988 after 34 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in the South Pacific. Mr. Rita was an avid golfer who loved the outdoors and working in the yard.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Alice J. Kinney Rita; two daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca & Eric Beck of Columbus and Michelle & Ronald Vance of Galion; a son and daughter-in-law, Mark & Rebecca Rita of Grove City, Ohio; and four grandchildren, Natalie Rita, Jessica Rita, and Adam Rita, all of Grove City and Samantha Vance of Galion. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luigi & Edith Rita.

Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Wednesday 6-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Thursday at 11:00 a.m. conducted by Rev. Dr. George Lambert. Military services will be held in Greenlawn Cemetery in Crestline. Memorial contributions may be made to MedCentral Hospice or Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
