Gerald Adkins

Gerald E. "Gary" Adkins, 45, of Mansfield, died Friday, January 18, 2008 at Mansfield Memorial Homes. Born March 2, 1962 in Mansfield, he was the son of Garl and Esther Price Adkins. He was employed in the construction business and a member of National Laborers Local #423. Gary was a very generous person who would help anyone who asked. His loving children will remember him as the funniest and cutest daddy anyone could ever have. He enjoyed cooking for his family, fishing and playing horseshoes.

He is survived by his three children, Brian Adkins, Sheena Adkins and Jenny Frank Fava, Jr. Adkins, all of Mansfield; special friend and mother of his children, Kimberly Adkins of Mansfield; parents, Sue Adkins of Mansfield and Garl and Mary Adkins of Kentucky; two grandchildren, Gavin Adkins and Tre' Fava; four brothers, Daryl Barb Adkins of Ashland, John Tammy Adkins of Shelby, Glen Adkins of Sheridan, WY and Garl Lisa Adkins of Lexington; a sister, Denise Elkins of Mansfield; two stepbrothers, Steve Debbie Taylor of Wonder Lake, IL and Michael Sally Taylor of Bellville, IL; three stepsisters, Marie Travis and Angela Taylor, both of Olive Hill, KY and Tricia Matthew Riley of Ashland, KY; grandmother, Mary Price of Mansfield; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Gerald Price and Garl and Sarah Adkins; nephew, Travis Elkins; and special uncles, Bill Sloan and Noah Kegley.

Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, January 22 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services conducted by Pastor Herman King will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the family for the benefit of his grandchildren.
