Gerald Hardy, 83, of Mansfield, died early Wednesday morning, November 12, 2008, at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. Born April 24, 1925, in Glouster, Ohio, he was the son of Thomas and Emily Bickley Hardy. He retired from General Motors after 30 years as a tow motor operator. Gerald loved to dance and listen to music, travel and attend his grandson's activities. He was a member of U.A.W. Local #549.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and John Hilson of Mansfield and Brenda and Edward Brooks of Ontario; grandson, Tyler Brooks; his friend and companion, Lucille Thivener; brother-in-law, Sylvester Zellner; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Hardy; parents; seven sisters; and three brothers.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Friday, November 14, 2008, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd., Mansfield. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
