
Glenda Faye Brinley Phipps, 68, of Mansfield, died Monday, January 16, 2006 at her home following an extended illness. Born December 26, 1937 in Mansfield, she was the daughter of Jay Earl and Sophia Marie Schelk Brinley. She had worked at Allprints, Woodlawn Nursing Home, and retired from the Richland County Children's Services at Dodds Hall as a resident care supervisor. Mrs. Phipps was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ. She sang with the Sweet Adalines and was a very creative woman who enjoyed sewing, singing, cooking, baking, and crafts. Mrs. Phipps enjoyed sharing her creative reading with children at the local schools and was involved in Christian Ministry Clowning. She collected spoons from around the world, bells, and salt and pepper shakers. A polio and cancer survivor, she was a member of the Post Polio Support Group in Mansfield. She loved her family and was a great inspiration to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Phipps of Mansfield; four daughters and sons-in-law, Cecile and Lewis Hendrickson of Bellville, Amy and Donald Price of Clarksville, Tennessee, Rebecca 'Becky' Perry of Mansfield, and Shelly Kincaid and her fiancé, Daniel Matt of Marengo; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Keith and Betty Lou Brinley, Dale and Olga Brinley, and Russell and Rita Brinley, all of Mansfield; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Doris and Lester Gillum, and Patricia and Ken Wheitner, all of Mansfield; sister-in-law, Annabelle Brinley; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Roy, Stanley, Earl; and one sister, JoAnn Whisler.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 18, 2006 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home conducted by Dr. Spink. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Post Polio Syndrome Association or the St. John's United Church of Christ.
