
Glenn Franklin Markley, 90, of Mansfield, died Sunday, October 17, 2010, in LPN Healthcare Facility in Newark. Born April 23, 1920 in Lucas, he was the son of the late Howard Elmer and Lillie Moffett Markley and husband of the late Ruth Mae Warne Markley. He was an active member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church before moving to Newark where he became a member at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. After serving in the Army during World War II, Glenn graduated from Ohio University with a degree in engineering and went on to own and operate Markley Communications Service. Amateur Radio Operator W8VLB, Glenn was active in MASER for many years. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, woodworking, creating family heirlooms for family and friends, and music, especially playing the banjo, mandolin, guitar, and the piano. Glenn never met a person he didn't like and loved to eat and travel.
He is survived by his daughters, Diana Markley-Bruns of Bowling Green and Debbie Mark Anctil of Newark; son, Dan Kim Markley of Mooresville, NC; grandchildren, Katrina Ryan Wapplehorst, Erik Bruns, Andy, Julie, and Ben DeBacco, and Audra, Max, and Molly Markley. He was preceded in death by his son, David G. Markley and brother, Howard J. Markley.
Friends may call Sunday, October 24, 2010, from 3:00-7:00 p.m. at the Diamond St. Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 25, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 1262 Ashland Road, Mansfield, conducted by Rev. Bonnie Peltomaa. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service at the church from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Military graveside services conducted by the Richland County Joint Veteran's Burial Detail will follow in Lantz Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Timothy Lutheran Church.
