Glenn Stout, 84, of Mansfield, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 18, 2025. Born November 4, 1940, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Glenn was a proud lifelong Ohioan and the only child of Lorimer "Jack" D. Stout and Viola (Ball) Stout.
Glenn was a 1959 graduate of Mansfield Senior High School. He was employed at several local factories, including PPG, a glass manufacturing company. In his later years, he found true joy in his job as a driver, shuttling members of the Amish community—a role he cherished for the connections and purpose it brought him.
Glenn had a deep love for the simple pleasures in life. He enjoyed golfing, softball, and bowling. Some of his fondest memories were on the softball field, where his family would cheer him on from the sidelines. At home, he was happiest surrounded by loved ones. He and his wife, Karyl, shared a remarkable 61 years of marriage—a partnership full of laughter, love, and unwavering support.
Every day, Glenn welcomed friends into his home for coffee and spirited political debates, a tradition that brought community and conversation into his daily life. He also enjoyed sitting in his garage, greeting neighbors and offering treats to their dogs—always with a smile and a warm heart.
Glenn is survived by his beloved wife, Karyl Stout; daughter, Paula (Edward) Shupe of Bellville, Ohio; grandson, Cody (Kaitlin) Smith and great-grandson, Cassian Smith, all of Littleton, Colorado; and grandson Cory Smith of Mansfield, Ohio. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Jerrie (Norm) Phiffer and Beverly Hartman; and brothers-in-law, Tim Gates, Steve (Terry) Gates, and Dan (Karen) Gates.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Viola Stout.
Per Glenn’s wishes, no formal services will be held. Those who wish to honor his memory are invited to make a memorial contribution to the Salvation Army.
