Harold S. Hoffman went to be with Jesus on Saturday, January 22, 2011, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Harold was born October 13, 1927, in Mansfield, Ohio to Earl and Anna Sauder Hoffman. He lived his entire life in the Mansfield-Ontario area working at Humphrey's and General Motors. He retired as an electrician at General Motors in 2002. Harold was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II.
Harold had an unbreakable spirit. He broke his back in 1976 leaving him confined to a wheelchair and lost his wife, Janice Powers Hoffman in 1980. Despite the challenge, he continued to work and travel with his family to Florida for the holiday's. He lived for his grandchildren. Depression never claimed his spirit and he always had a positive attitude and word for everyone he met. What a strong, strong man, never complaining. He dearly loved the Lord and believed God carried him thru every situation and took care of him throughout his life. Now he is with his precious wife, 'running' the streets of gold, believing God always had a plan.
He is survived by his daughter, Shawna Ray, and granddaughter, Bethany Ray; his daughter, Mona Robin Ujoodha and grandson, Kevin Ujoodha with whom he made his home; sisters-in-law, Helen Powers, Helen Rauzi and Ethel Hoffman; brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Shirley Powers; numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends particularly Carl Ruth, Ray Baldner, John Brown, Bill Rathburn and special friend, 'Peggy'. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Hoffman and two brothers, Russell and William Hoffman.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday, January 25, 2011, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road, Mansfield. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 26, 2011, at the funeral home conducted by Rev. Richard Aites. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
