
Helen A. Brooks, 65, of Mansfield died Saturday, November 22, 2003 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital after an extended illness. She was born October 27, 1938, in West Virginia to Samuel Lincoln and Mary Belle Clark Turner. Helen was a member of Westside Baptist Church. She contributed greatly to the Christian Children's Fund. Helen enjoyed gardening, animals, cooking, collecting angels, and her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Denzil Brooks; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Karen Hinkle of West Virginia, Carolyn and Daniel Withrow of West Virginia, Wendy and Mitch Shopbell and Kathy Lynn Brooks, all of Mansfield; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Retha Brooks of Mansfield; four grandchildren, Steven Shopbell, James Shopbell, Elizabeth Shopbell and Ethan Withrow; three brothers, Joseph Turner and James Turner, both of North Carolina, and Carl Ray Turner of West Virginia; two sisters, Oleta Johnson of Virginia and Louisa Wynes of West Virginia; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Edmund Turner.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Tuesday, November 25, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral services conducted by Pastor Ken Fielder will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Westside Baptist Church.
