Helen Kay Saylor, 83, of Mansfield, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 15, 2025. Born April 30, 1942, in Willard, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Lucius and Jane (Bordner) Simmons.
A proud graduate of Plymouth High School, Class of 1960, Helen later earned her degree in Secretarial Science from Tiffin University. She built a dedicated career working at G&T Industries in Mansfield and later continued her professional journey in Jasper, Indiana.
Helen lived life with a sense of adventure and independence. She loved riding motorcycles and taking memorable trips with close friends and family. She was also particularly fond of her Corvette and spent many joyful hours behind the wheel. Her active lifestyle extended to the softball field, where she played with spirited groups of friends in both Indiana and Ohio.
A devoted animal lover, Helen raised many beloved dogs throughout her life, treating each one as family. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she was an attendee of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Lucas, Ohio.
Helen is survived by her loving sister, Ethel (Chuck) Briggs; nephews, Chris (Renae) Briggs and Mike (Jenna) Briggs; great-nieces and great-nephews, Caitlin Briggs, Sarah (Zach) Cole, Jon Briggs, and Anna Briggs; and great-great-nephew, Apollo Cole. She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Don Ford; her stepsisters, Beanie Cornell and Norma Lou Clark; and her stepbrother, Fred Ford.
Friends and family are invited to visitation on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m., all held at 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. Helen will be laid to rest at 2:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Cemetery in Plymouth.
In honor of Helen’s life and passions, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, Southern Care Hospice, or the Caribbean Christian Centre for the Deaf.
