Herald Crabtree

Herald D. Crabtree, 75, of Mansfield, died Tuesday, March 10, 2009, at MedCentral Mansfield. Born December 16, 1933, in Stearns, Kentucky, he was the son of Lloyd and Bertha Allen Crabtree. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving from 1954-1957. A charter member of Lincoln Heights Baptist Church, Mr. Crabtree retired from Mansfield Reformatory in 1990. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who enjoyed staying home with his family.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Marlene Haynes Crabtree whom he married in 1958; one son, Timothy Geana Crabtree of Mansfield; three daughters, Teresa Crabtree of Mansfield, Tammy Crabtree of Shelby and Tonya Saylor of Mansfield; six grandchildren, Krystal, Kassi, Kelsie, Brittany, Matthew and Timothy; six great grandchildren, Gavin, Kyzer, Faith, Hayden, Sabrina and Santana; two brothers, Dorman Lois Crabtree of Lexington, KY and Keith Crabtree of Huntsville, TX; two sisters, June Akers of Pineville, KY and Phyllis Jim Stevens of Foley, Alabama; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 14, 2009, at Lincoln Heights Baptist Church conducted by Pastor Mike Wilson. Friends may call from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Mansfield Memorial Park at a later date where full military services will be conducted by the Richland County Veterans Burial Detail. Memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund of Lincoln Heights Baptist Church.
