
Herbert 'Herb' L. Walters, 90, of Mansfield, died Thursday, October 18, 2007 at Mifflin Care Center. Born August 24, 1917 in Mansfield, he was the son of Lee O. and Emma C. Kleilein Walters. Mr. Walters served in the U.S. Army in WWII. He retired from Westinghouse in 1975 after 35 years of service. Mr. Walters was a member of the Men's Garden Club. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and fishing and was a Cleveland Indians fan.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Lia Walters of Midway Park, North Carolina; three grandchildren, Sean Vicki Walters, Angie Swisher, and Christy Walters; seven great-grandchildren, Carson, Emma, Colin, Kyle, Jacob, Carter, and Korey; special friend, Susan Walters of Ashland; two sisters, Leona Schaus, Vareta Rebel, both of Mansfield; brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Marjorie Walters of Ft. Myers, Florida; and sister-in-law, Pauline Walters of Mansfield. He was preceded in death by his wife, Violet M. Ryan Walters, whom he married October 6, 1940; parents; brother, John Walters; and two brothers-in-law, Frank Rebel, and Edgar Schaus.
Military graveside services conducted by the Richland County Joint Veteran's Burial Detail will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 22, 2007 at Mansfield Memorial Park conducted by Rev. David Hartzfeld. Memorial contributions may be made to the Men's Garden Club. The Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors assisted the family with arrangements.
