

Homer O. 'Jon' Woodard, 81, died Friday, May 7, 2004 at Woodlawn Nursing Home. Homer was born April 19, 1923 in St. Albans, Vermont to the late Walter and Esther Girard Woodard. Mr. Woodard graduated from the Boston Institute of Fine Arts. He worked as the Art Director for the News Journal, was the Advertising Director at Tappan's and owner of the advertising agency, 'J' Publications. Homer was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and enjoyed painting, reading and writing. Mr. Woodard was a WWII Army Aircorp veteran.
He is survived by his wife Marie Jeannette Pontbriand Woodard; a daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Daniel Bottorf of Mansfield; five sons and daughters-in-laws, Jeffrey and Marsha Woodard of Edgewater, Florida, Jonathan and Donna Woodard and Thomas and Eileen Woodard of Medford, Oregon, Gary and Gay Woodard and Anthony and Diana Woodard of Mansfield; thirteen grandchildren, Angela Borek, Melissa Schwegman, Jennifer and Andrea Cathey, Jon, Tomas, Brynn, J.T., Cary, Brett, Gabrielle, Jared and Cassidy Woodard; and six great-grandchildren, Shelby Suess, Izaak and Phoebe Schwegman, Jonathan Starr, Ethan Gardner, and Aron Woodard. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Tuesday, May 11, 2004 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 12th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church. Military graveside services will be held at Prince of Peace Catholic Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
