Ida Van Dine

Ida Janice Tallentire Van Dine, 73, of Mansfield, died Thursday, March 19, 2009 at her home. Janice was born January 11, 1936 in Decatur, Indiana. She attended Madison High School where she was academically and musically active prior to graduating in 1954. Janice met Lester Van Dine shortly after graduating and they were married September 3, 1955. They made their home in Mansfield Ohio.

Janice is Mother to five children: Glenn E. Van Dine, Cynthia Mae Trisdale, Lester Joseph Van Dine, Deborah K. Jamieson and Janice Cathryn Wyrick. Janice and Lester were foster parents for many years. They have 14 Grandchildren and 18 Great-Grandchildren. She is aunt, niece and cousin to extended family in Ohio and Indiana.

Janice is the eldest of five children and is survived by her brothers and sisters in-law: Don and Sylvia Tallentire; Allen and Roseanne Tallentire; Esther and Bruce Evans and their extended families. She is preceded in passing by her parents; Geneva and Howard Tallentire, sister; Mary Helen and grandson, Evan Kemp.

Janice was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and a member of the choir. She will be dearly remembered for her courage, faithfulness, dedication, steadfast strength and determination to be a positive influence for everyone who came into her life.

Friends may call from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday, March 22, 2009 at Trinity United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the church conducted by Pastor Gary C. Streiff. Graveside services will be held Monday in Oak Grove Memorial Park at 10 a.m. Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to serve the family of Ida Janice Van Dine.
