Irene Rowland

Irene Rowland, 85, passed away Thursday afternoon, July 26, 2012 at Mifflin Care Center. Born July 9, 1927, in Farnborough, England she was the daughter of the late William Rice and Violet Smith. Irene grew up in Bath and Bristol England.

An angel who was always willing to share her time with you, Irene is an irreplaceable figure to her family and friends. She retired from The Rehab Center, where she served as an LPN and Clinical Coordinator. A faithful woman of God, she regularly read her Bible and lived her life accordingly through her service to her church-Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.

In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, embroidery, knitting and crocheting. Irene was an avid animal lover and found great pleasure in feeding and watching the many birds that visited her home. Irene was an honorary Baku Grotto clown named “Clarabelle”. She was a member of several service organizations in the Mansfield area.

She is survived by two daughters, Fran (Tony) Oroson of Nashville, TN and Katy (Paul) Wehinger of Lexington; two grandchildren, Michael (Amy) Wehinger of MD and Susan Wehinger of MI; three great-grandchildren, Caroline, Allison and Marcie Wehinger; three sisters, Mickey Messenger, Fran (Robert) Norris, and Pauline Hamilton; a brother, George (Corrine) Smith; nine nieces and nephews; a host of great-nieces and nephews and other dear relatives; and so many good friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Angela Wehinger; a brother, Robert Smith; and two brothers-in-law, Roy Messenger and Charles Hamilton.

Friends and family may visit from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, July 29, 2012 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. A graveside service will be held Monday at 1:00 p.m. in Windsor Park Cemetery with Dr. Pentti J. Maki officiating.

Irene’s passion was to help disabled children and the family requests memorial contributions be made to Camp Echoing Hills, 36272 County Rd. 79, Warsaw, OH 43844 or any Richland Bank.
