
Isaac Melvin 'Ike' Parker, 62, of 1675 Evergreen East died Wednesday March 14, 2001 at home following an extended illness. Mr. Parker was born June 22, 1938 in Derwent, Ohio residing in the Mansfield area most of his life. He had previously worked at General Motors and was a veteran of the United States Army. Ike enjoyed gardening, boating, traveling and being with his family and grandchildren. When asked by his family they described him as being, quiet, hardworking, gentle and dedicated to his family and work.
Surviving are his wife of 39 years, Kathy Skartved Parker of Mansfield; one son, Michael Parker of Mansfield; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Suzanne and Stephen Berger of Milan, Ohio; Laura and Daniel Fischer of Mansfield and Elizabeth Morgan and her special friend, Neil Wolfgang of Lexington, Ohio; one sister, Carol Barber of Mansfield; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Vernon and Beverly Parker of Mansfield; and Raymond Parker of Mansfield; five grandchildren, Cara, Andrew, Becca Fischer of Mansfield and Christopher and Catherine Morgan of Lexington, Ohio; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Ron and Barbara Frazier. He was preceded in death by his parents, Isaac Henderson and Isabelle McCall Parker; two sisters, Shirley Rodgers and Virginia Parker and two brothers, David and Charles Parker.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors on Friday March 16, 2001 from 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday March 17, 2001 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home conducted by the Rev. Faith Proietti. Burial will be in Mansfield Cemetery.
