Jacqueline (Jackie) V. Krause West Miller, 91, of Butler, Ohio passed away on December 22, 2016, just as she lived, with peace and grace, and wrapped in her family’s love and prayers. Jackie was born April 27, 1925, in Zanesville, Ohio to Edna and Chauncey Krause. She was a 1943 graduate of Lash High School. After which, she moved to Mansfield, Ohio, where she worked at Tappan. She later went on to work with Therm-O-Disc, retiring in 1966 to stay at home and take care of her children. She was joined in matrimony to her soul mate, best friend, and one true love, Robert (Bob) Miller in 1954, with whom she shared 46 years of marriage, until his death in 2000. She missed him every day thereafter.
Jackie was not only a devoted wife, but also a loving mother to her four children, a doting aunt to her many nieces and nephews, and the proudest Grandmother to her nine grandchildren, and twenty great grandchildren. She loved her family with all of her heart. They were her world. She was an accomplished cook, who among many other culinary achievements, made famous pies, and never allowed a guest to leave her table hungry. She knew the name of every plant, tree, bird, and flower on their farm, and could have taught Martha Stewart a thing or two about sewing, crafting, and house keeping. She had an artist’s soul, and found beauty and inspiration in the simplicity of nature. She and Bob each had an incredible sense of humor, and when they collaborated, their jokes were legendary. Lucky was the recipient of one of Jackie’s hand drawn cartoons, that Bob had authored.
Jackie’s faith was the center of her life. She was a life long member of The Church of Christ, and member of the McElroy Road Church of Christ in Mansfield for 60 years. She lived her life by being fair, honest, and generous, being not only a Christian in word, but also in deed. She loved the Sam Walter Foss poem, The House By The Side Of The Road. "Let me live in a house by the side of the road, and be a friend to man." She never shied from giving a helping hand, often doing so anonymously. She knew the best thing in life was to hold onto each other. She had many challenges in her life, and fought many battles for her family. And though she was little, she was mighty, standing tall, when many others would have fallen.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Gary West; Daughter, Sue Sparks-McGowan; a granddaughter, Tammi Moore; a sister, Frances Calland; two brothers, Rodney and Kenneth Krause; an infant sister, Bernadette Krause; also, the father of her children, Garold West, and several special dogs.
She is survived by two daughters, Judith "Judy" (Jack) Blandi of Mansfield and Tommie (Jim) Moore of Bellville; eight grandchildren, Stacie (Tony) Searcy, Jodi (David) Powers, Rob (Kris) Sparks, Julie (Scott) Dillon, Jennifer (Bob) Scruggs, Melissa (Keith) Kulwicki, Eric Sparks and Brandon (Diandra) Moore; twenty great grandchildren, Emerald Guiler, Anthony Guiler, Nicholas Searcy, Vincent Searcy, Dominic Searcy, Bobby Powers, Rebekah Powers, Ethan Sparks, Isaac Sparks, Luke Sparks, Skylar Dillon, Lance Dillon, Joshua Scruggs, Kaitlyn Scruggs, Matthew Scruggs, Colton Moore, C.J. Riffe, Sebastian Kulwicki, Alec Moore and Andrew Moore; one brother, Merle (Genevieve) Krause of Dresden, Ohio; two sisters, Nancy (Phil) Schlaegel of Columbus, and Mary (Frank) Gilbert of Mansfield. Jackie is also survived by many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins and friends whom she loved dearly.
Friends may call from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road, Ontario. Funeral services honoring Jackie's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 29, 2016 at the funeral home officiated by her nephew, Tim Schlaegel. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
