

James E. 'Curly' Daugherty, 63, of Mansfield, died at home unexpectedly, early Monday evening, February 10, 2003. Mr. Daugherty was born July 18, 1939 in Mansfield being a life long resident. He retired from the State of Ohio, working at Rest Stop Areas. In previous years, Curly worked at Tuckers Auto Wrecking, Carroll's Auto Wrecking and Cates Auto Wrecking. He was an avid NASCAR fan, following Dale Earnhardt Jr. He also enjoyed dirt track racing and camping. James loved his two pets, Lucky and Sassy.
Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Carol Daugherty of Mansfield; six sons and five daughters-in-law, James Jr. and Lorena Daugherty; David and Sandy Daugherty; Rodney Daugherty; Robert and Edna Daugherty; Jeffrey and Jennifer Daugherty; and Michael and Nancy Daugherty all of Mansfield; one daughter, Candie Daugherty of Lexington; 18 grandchildren; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Larry Daugherty and Rick and Pam Daugherty all of Mansfield; several nieces and nephews; and two very special friends, Ron French and Ron Reed both of Mansfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Dorothy Daugherty; and one sister, Patricia Charles.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors on Wednesday, February 12, 2003 from 3-5 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home conducted by the Rev. Earl Tackett. Burial will be in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
