

James 'Ed' Hamblin, age 84, of Mansfield, died early Monday morning April 9, 2001 at Winchester Terrace following an extended illness. Mr. Hamblin was born August 1, 1916 in Mansfield, Ohio living in the Mansfield area all of his life. He retired from Therm-O-Disc in 1980 after 12 years of service and was a former employee at Barnes Manufacturing. Mr. Hamblin was a member of the First Christian Church and Chapel Sunday School Class. He was a former member of the board of the Richland Rural Life Center. He was also a former member of the Renaissance Theatre Board where he was very helpful in restoring the large chandelier and theatre organ. Mr. Hamblin was a graduate of Mansfield Senior High School and a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Ruth Evelyn Swaidner Hamblin; three sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis & Pat Hamblin of Overland Park, Kansas, David & JoAnne Hamblin of Mt. Gilead, Ohio, Douglas and Peggy Hamblin of Butler, Ohio; a daughter and son-in-law, Donna & Jon Woodard of Medford, Oregon; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; three nieces, Roberta and her spouse, Scott Cline of Mansfield, Judy Hallman of Columbus, Dorothy and her spouse, Robert Hall of Columbus; a nephew, Roger Bauer and his wife Jackie of Mansfield; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy Edgar & Emma R. Gruneisen Hamblin; and a sister, Naomi Bauer Davis.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:00 p.m., at the funeral home, conducted by Rev. J. Terry Marsh and Rev. Paul Haney. Burial will be held in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church or the American Heart Association.
