James W. Hilliard, 62, of Mansfield, died unexpectedly Wednesday January 1, 2003 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. Mr. Hilliard was born July 1, 1940 in Portsmouth, Ohio residing in the Mansfield area most of his life. He had worked for the Hattery Chatlain Nursery as a Landscaper. Mr. Hilliard was a veteran of the United States Army. James was an avid fisherman.
Surviving are his wife, Dixie Barber Hilliard; six sons and daughters-in-law, James Hilliard Jr. of Tacoma, Washington; David Hilliard and his companion Barb of Mansfield; Chris and Kathy Hilliard of Shelby; Kelly and Jenny Hilliard; Kevin and Sheila Hilliard; and Clovis and Dolly Hilliard all of Mansfield; two daughters and sons-in-law, Junellen and Douglas Swain of Lucas; and Jean Hilliard and her companion Ben Eckert of Mansfield; twenty grandchildren; and one sister, Donna Utt of Mansfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver S. and Virgie Kelly Hilliard; two sons, Oliver and Philip; one granddaughter, Jaclyn Bolden and one sister, Phyllis Hayes.
There will be no calling hours or funeral services held at The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors.
