

He was a 1943 graduate of Mansfield Senior High and served in the United States Navy during World War II on the USS McDermott. He was founder and co-owner of Jimmy's Cafe on E. 5th and Mr. P's on S. Diamond Street. He was a member of the Masonic Temple, Firemen's Association, Mansfield Police Association and had operated charitable bingo for the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
He is survived by a son, Jimmy Petroff, Jr. (Bobbi May-Gross); a daughter, Nenajames Petroff (Greg Ridenour); grandchildren, Whitney Petroff Keiser (David James McDowell) and Zachary Taylor Petroff; and a great grandchild, Emma Petroff-McDowell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ione Petroff, and two brothers, Alex and George Petroff.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2013 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield where full military honors will be conducted by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Squad. Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the funeral home on Friday.
