
Jean Lucille Shivley Hoffman, 94, of Austin, TX, died Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at Westlake Nursing Home in Austin. Born March 10, 1917 in Mansfield, she was the daughter of Oliver Frank and Estella Flora Leppo Shivley. After graduation, she worked at the Mansfield Typewriter Company where she met her husband, John and then became a homemaker and raised a family. Jean was an active member of the First Christian Church of Mansfield for 75 years, where she sang in the choir, worked in the office and library, and was active in many church groups. She loved to travel with her friends and continued to live in Mansfield until 2000 when she moved to Houston to be near her family.
She is survived by her son, David R. Jane Hoffman of Austin, TX; daughter, Christine Danny Jones of Daytona Beach, FL; grandsons, Scott D. Pam Hoffman of Austin, TX and Steven M. Laura Hoffman of Mansfield, TX; great granddaughters, Mallory, Emma, and Elise Hoffman; brother, Dick L. Shivley of Medina; and nephew, Michael D. Shivley of Akron, OH. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John in 1977 and a sister, Barbara Day Shivley.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 28, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. at the Diamond St. Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield, conducted by Rev. Chris Whitehead. Friends may call one hour prior to the service from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Memorial Park.
