Jennifer Raphael

Jennifer Lind Harris Raphael, 54, of Mansfield, died Wednesday, May 13, 2015, in Mansfield, Ohio. She was born July 26, 1960, in Fostoria, Ohio, to John Edward Harris and Barbara Lois (Boyd) Harris. She graduated from Lexington High School and had attended The Ohio State University. Until a few years ago, Jennifer was a long-time employee of Interstate Optical. She was an avid reader and animal lover. Jennifer enjoyed classic rock music, and the louder it played, the more she liked it.

Jennifer's loving and generous heart extended to all who knew her. She raised three wonderful children on her own and was very active in her daughters' lives and school activities. Jennifer was a soccer coach and official for many years while her children were playing. It was not unusual to have several extra children hanging out at her home when her daughters were younger. Her home was a loving and compassionate place for everyone who visited. She was always willing to listen and lend a helping hand when needed. She was an amazing grandmother and enjoyed babysitting her four precious grandchildren. Jennifer leaves behind a legacy of compassion and generosity to be treasured by her family and friends.

She is survived by two daughters, Megan Lind Raphael Sweet of Ashland and Erin Marie Young (Robert Matz) of Mansfield; four grandchildren, Benjamin Sweet, Jayden and Amy Young, and Maleah Matz; her parents, John E. and Barbara L. Harris of Lexington; siblings, John E. Harris, II (Carla Townsend) of Reynoldsburg, OH, and Julie (Jeff) Harris-Wasserman of San Francisco, CA; and nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by a daughter, Kari Lynn Raphael and son-in-law, Jory Sweet.

A Gathering of family and friends will be held Monday, May 18, 2015, from 4-6 p.m. in the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. A Celebration of Jennifer's wonderful life will follow at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Paul L. Lintern officiating. Burial will be in Mansfield Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in care of the family.
