

Joan Helen (Teeter) Boyce, 87, of Ontario, died Monday, July 1, 2013 at her residence. Born December 19, 1925 in North Liberty, Ohio, she was the daughter of Harley and Mary (Leedy) Teeter. She was a 1943 graduate of Butler High School and married Donald Earl Boyce on July 2, 1950. She retired from Richman Brothers Clothing Store where she was employed as the office manager/head cashier, and for the past several years was the Activities Coordinator for the senior members of Modern Woodmen of America's Summit Chapter.
She enjoyed cooking, baking-her grandchildren would concur her cooking was the best especially her "cheesy potatoes"- collecting and trying new recipes, gardening, playing cards and bowling. She served as a Cub Scout Den Mother and was always a faithful fan at her children's and grandchildren's activities. She loved her family and enjoyed giving, sacrificing her own desires so as to provide joy in the lives of her family. She attended Westwood Alliance Church.
She is survived by her children, Gregory (Cheryl) Boyce, Randy Boyce, Bruce (Deb) Boyce and Martin (Karen) Boyce; 11 grandchildren, David Boyce, Abby (Tim) Hilterman, Kayleigh Boyce, Braden Boyce, Scott (Casey) Boyce, Brett (Stephanie) Boyce, Cassie (James) Taylor, Brandon (Jessica) Boyce, Travis Boyce, Dustin Boyce and Kristi Boyce; one step granddaughter, Amy Smith;10 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews; four sisters, Mary Lou (Dean) Conger, Beverly Althouse, Bernice Kearns and Patricia (Lee) Bailey; and three sisters-in-law, Eileen Boyce, Lucy Teeter and Naomi (Boyce) Docktor.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Earl Boyce; two brothers, Donald and Larry Teeter; a daughter-in-law, Doris Boyce; a brother-in-law, Harold Boyce; and two sisters-in-law, Eileen Gates and Marie Herby.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Westwood Alliance Church Ladies, Jan Stivenson, Lesley Dugan and MedCentral Hospice for all they did for Joan.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Friday, July 5, 2013 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road, Ontario. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 6, 2013 at Westwood Alliance Church conducted by her nephew, Pastor Patrick Bailey and Rev. Doyle Peyton. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family would like contributions to go to Westwood Alliance Church.
