Joel served in the United States Army with the 101st Airborne Division and retired from Peabody in Galion where he worked as a machinist. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Galion where he served as a head Deacon. Joel was tough on the outside but in the same token had a big heart. He loved working in his yard, riding his motorcycle and collecting pocket knives.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Shirley Mae (Shaffer) Fry; his daughter, Christina Johnson; his son, Robert (Tammy) Fry; his grandchildren, Stacy Moots, Sabrina Moots, Natalie Kemp, Brandon Fry and Jared Fry; 10 great grandchildren; his nieces, Vickie Mason and Pam Phelps; and his nephew, Charles "Sonny" Fry.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Geraldine, Doris, Iris, Clifford and Charles.
There will be no services at this time.
