John Burghard

John Phillip Burghard, 33, of Worthington, Ohio died Saturday afternoon, April 5, 2003 at University Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. Phil was born September 14, 1969 in Irving, Texas living in the Chesterville, Ohio area most of his life. He was president of Accelerated Construction Company with his business partner and vice-president, Brian Reed. He had earned numerous awards in the field of construction. He was a member of Hanley Road Baptist Church. He graduated from Highland High School in 1987 where he was active in football, baseball and wrestling. Phil was an avid NHRA drag racer.

He is survived by his father and stepmother, John & Jo Burghard of Chesterville; his mother and stepfather, Karen & Warren Spencer of Austin, Texas; his girlfriend, Katie Huyghe; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Brian & Nicole Baxter of Marysville, Ohio and Joe & Kelly Burghard of Cincinnati, Ohio; a sister and brother-in-law, Lisa & Doug Maynard of Waxahachie, Texas; maternal grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. King of Wichita Falls, Texas; paternal grandmother, Marion Burghard of Van, Texas; two nieces; and four nephews.

Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Friday from 6-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home conducted by Hanley Road Baptist Church. Memorial contributions may be made in care of the church.
