John Friend

John C. Friend, 72, of Mansfield, died December 15, 2006 at Cleveland Metro Health Center. John was born January 6, 1934 in Mansfield to the late John Sr. and Helen France Friend, and had lived in the Mansfield area with his devoted family his entire life. He was retired from Hartman Electric where he had served as a supervisor. John was an avid fisherman, and in his earlier years he even enjoyed hunting with his family. He was a member of Sons of Herman in Mansfield.

Surviving is his wife Shirley, at home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Christy Bruce McMillan, Pam Kevin Owens, and Dora Richard Byus, all of Mansfield; four grandchildren, Andrew and Katie McMillan, Rocky Owens, and Mandy Gregory; two great-grandchildren, Mason McMillan and Mercadies Owens; two sisters, Peggy Carroll and Barbara Wood; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family. Preceding John in death were his parents.

Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, December 19 at 10:00 a.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, with Rev. Gary Streiff from Trinity United Methodist officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church.
