John Paul Jones, age 76, of Mansfield, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and service to his community. Born and raised in Mansfield, John was the son of Ralph and Marie (Reed) Jones and one of five children. He graduated from Mansfield Senior High and spent his entire life in the town he loved.
John will be remembered fondly by his family, especially his young nieces, who recall the joy of watching him play drums while they danced to the beat. His passion for life extended to his love of water; he owned several boats over the years and dreamt of getting out on the water to fish. He also found peace in nature, sharing many cherished moments deer hunting with his brother Jim.
A proud member of his community, John was deeply involved with the Madison Township Fire Department and Squad, where he volunteered his time and efforts to serve others. He also found great joy in cooking for his family, particularly grilling outside during the warmer months. John’s love for making homemade meals was a tradition he inherited from his mother, Marie. His love for laughter was evident in his favorite shows, including Abbott & Costello and the Jerry Lewis Telethon, which he watched faithfully every year.
John’s love for family was unwavering. He was married to Jeannette (Lucas) Jones for nearly 25 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Marie Jones; his son, Tobias 'Toby' Jones; his brothers Ralph Jr. and James 'Jim' Jones; and his sister, Karen Vanaman.
John is survived by his wife Jeannette, his daughter Sabrina Jones, stepsons Eric Kinney and Michael Kinney, his sister Nancy Oliver, and many cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
In accordance with John’s wishes, no services will be held. His family and friends will carry his memory in their hearts, forever grateful for the moments shared with this kind, loving, and dedicated man.
In honor of John’s dedication to his community, memorial donations may be made to the Madison Township Fire Department, where he spent countless hours volunteering.
