
John Fredrick Lantz, 89, of Mansfield, died Wednesday morning, May 16, 2007, at Winchester Terrace Nursing Home. Born April 24, 1918 in Mansfield, he was the son of Artemus and Jeannetta Hauser Lantz. He attended East Hills Presbyterian Church. Mr. Lantz was a founding member of REACT, foster parent to 240 children and started Toy Time. He retired from Ideal Electric after 42 years and was a member of United Commercial Travelers. He was also the sexton of Lantz Cemetery for many years.
Survivors include seven children, John E. Brenda Lantz of Indiana, Marcylyn Lloyd Spencer, Wanda Crisp, Jack Debbie Lantz, Jeff Jody Lantz, all of Mansfield, Donald Diane Lantz of Plymouth, and Dwayne Rachael Lantz of Cincinnati; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his wife; second wife of 37 years, Alma June Rose Lantz; third wife of 10 years, Mabel R. Lantz; parents; daughter, Patricia Rhodes; son, Charles Lantz; brothers, William and Henry Lantz; and sisters, Harriett Trease and Amanda Mowery.
Memorial services will be Tuesday, May 22 at 2:30 p.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors conducted by Pastor Aaron Cavin. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Lantz Cemetery at a later date.
