
John Forshee Melton, age 78, 1269 Laver Rd., died Sunday morning, May 12, 2002, in the Mifflin Care Center following a brief illness. He was born August 17, 1923 in Madison, Indiana to Archibald and Ruth Stanger Melton living in the Mansfield area most of his life. Mr. Melton was a retired employee of the Tappan Co. He was a member of the Tappan Credit Union and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Dona Jean Melton, whom he married September 8, 1956; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryll and Melvin Zellner of Mansfield and Deborah Allen of Washington; four grandchildren, Michael Blauser of Mansfield, David Hess of Oregon, Darlynn Breidenbach and Norman Shanks, of Washington; two great-grandchildren, Shiann Bago of Mansfield and Maliek German of Washington; sister and brother-in-law Donna and Joe Morrison; and several nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister Mary Petrick; brother Carroll Melton; daughter Brenda Hess and a granddaughter Regina Hess.
Friends may call one hour prior to services on Wednesday, May 15, 2002, at 1:00 pm at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors conducted by Rev. Richard Pass. . Military graveside services will be observed at Oak Grove Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Wayside Temple in Castalia, Ohio.
