

John Joseph Miller, 95, of Mansfield, died Sunday evening, February 1, 2015, at OhioHealth MedCentral Mansfield Hospital after a brief illness. He was born January 29, 1920, in Austria-Hungary (now Serbia), the only son of John Jacob Miller and Filipina Werle Miller. He emigrated to Windsor, Canada at the age of seven. A few years later, the family settled in Cleveland, Ohio.
John was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII in India and Burma (now Myanmar). After his discharge, he became a partner in a tool and die business. John was a long-time member of the Illinois Avenue Apostolic Christian Church of America. Throughout his life, John's faith in God held a special place in his heart.
John is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lillian (Ebinger) Miller; son, Roger (Dorina) Miller; daughter, Lois Kellough; grandchildren, Bethany (Jacob) Rufener, Justin Miller, Seth Miller, Carson (Megan) Thrush, Charlotte (Brian) Aguirre; two great-grandchildren, Malachi and Melea Rufener; a sister, Edna Kluska; a niece, Joyce (Allen) Rieman; and several other nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father and step-mother, John and Elizabeth (Schwartz) Miller; mother, Filipina Werle Miller; and sisters, Elizabeth Pfister, Katharine Deak, and Teresa Miller.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, February 4, 2015, in the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd. The funeral service will be held Thursday in the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Apostolic Christian World Relief for Eastern Europe (acwr.org).
