John Scanlon

John R. Scanlon, 50, of Mansfield, died suddenly February 8, 2004, at his home. He was born August 7, 1953, in Mansfield to Robert and Betty Murray Scanlon. He was a 1971 Malabar graduate and was employed at the Water Treatment Facility of the city of Mansfield. John was an avid golfer, playing at Forest Hills most of the time.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah Jones Scanlon, whom he married July 10, 1981; two daughters, Dawn Scanlon of Columbus and Stephanie Scanlon of Mansfield; father and stepmother, Robert and Nancy Scanlon of Crescent City, Florida; sister and brother-in-law, Debra and Joseph Harfman of Deland, Florida; numerous nieces and nephews; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jack and Jeanne Jones of Mansfield; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. His mother, Betty Scanlon, preceded him in death.

Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Wednesday, February 11 from 6-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Rev. David Gilbert. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
