John Guy Wertz, 51, of Mansfield, died Monday, March 21, 2005, at his home. Born July 27, 1953, in Mansfield, he was the son of Ellsworth N. and Marietta M. Wilson Wertz. John was employed at Vasu Communications as an electrical engineer. He was a member of the Amateur Ham Radio Club, an avid cyclist and a member of Mid-Ohio Bikers. John was a man who was always ready for an adventure. He graduated from Madison High School and attended Case Western Reserve University.
He is survived by a son, John Wertz, Jr. of Bellefontaine; daughter, Melissa D. Wertz of Galion; fiancée, Dona Tommas; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Rick and Karen Wertz of Mansfield, Jeffery Lynn and Sheryl Wertz of Mansfield, Texas; stepdaughter, Kim Borders; aunt, Margaret Mengert of Ft. Myers, Florida; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Larry Wertz.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, March 23 at 6:00 p.m. at the Diamond Street home of Wappner Funeral Directors with Pastor Bruce Copley officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 6 p.m.
