Johnnie James Colvin, 68, of Mansfield died Tuesday morning, September 9, 2003 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. He was born September 25, 1935 in Columbus, Mississippi to Willie and Mattie Barry Colvin and was a Mansfield area resident most of his life. He retired from Artesian.
He is survived by his wife, Murdies Lawhorn Colvin; a daughter and son-in-law, Lilly and Willie Davis of Douglasville, Georgia; son, Rashid Sewell of Mansfield; eleven grandchildren; two brothers, J.D. Colvin of Mansfield and Joe T. Colvin of Columbus, Mississippi; a sister, Della Johnson of Columbus, Mississippi; stepdaughter, Karen Youngblood of Columbus, Ohio; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Willie B. Colvin, George Colvin, and Zeb Colvin; two sisters, Annie Lee Salter and Ethel Richardson; daughter, Gloria Jean 'Jeannie' Colvin; son, John Roy Colvin; and a granddaughter, Shashonda Colvin.
A memorial service will be held Monday, September 15 at 10:00 a.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
