Johnny Shirley Sr.

Johnny Lee Shirley, Sr., 52, of 180 W. Fourth St. died Sunday, September 30, 2001, at MedCentral Mansfield after a long illness. Mr. Shirley was born August 15, 1949 in Columbus, Mississippi to Clyde Shirley and Lillie Jones. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Vietnam crisis. Johnny will be remembered as a cool, exciting, outgoing person. He was a lovable man who enjoyed fishing, cooking and music.

Survivors include his mother and stepfather Lillie L. & Isaiah Jones of Mansfield; a son and daughter-in-law, Johnny Lee Jr. & Latrisa Shirley of Mansfield; two daughters and one son-in-law, Sherea Crawford and Nickie & Keith Cross all of Mansfield; seven grandchildren; a special friend, Sherry Williams; four brothers and their spouses, Charles & Pam Shirley, Larry D. Jones, James & Debbie Jones, and Albert L. and Nancy all of Mansfield; two sisters and a spouse, Nancy & John Bonner, and Cathey Jones both of Mansfield; one aunt in Mansfield, three in Detroit, one uncle in Mansfield and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, and sister, Vivion Ann Jones.

Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors one hour prior to funeral services Saturday at 10:30 a.m. conducted by Rev. David E. Dennis. Military Honor Guard services will be observed at Mansfield Cemetery following the ceremony. Memorial contributions may be made in care of the family at 224 Bowman St.
