Jon “Jan” Evans, 86 of Mansfield, Ohio passed away surrounded by family on June 1, 2025. Jan is the son of Fred and Eva (Stephenson) Evans, Sr., born May 26, 1939, in Carter County, Kentucky. Jan married the love of his life, Darlene (Carroll) Evans on June 2, 1960, making them one day shy of their 65th wedding anniversary.
In years past he was an avid bowler, golfer and a Bluegrass music festival fanatic. He loved cheering for the Cleveland Indians. Jan was known by all for his quick wit and pranks.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, and they were always his top priority. His grandchildren were the light of his life.
Jan gave 38 years of dedicated service to the Shiloh Corporation.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Darlene Evans; son, Randy (Zen) Evans; daughter, Wanda (Jerry) Mollett; grandsons, Kyler Evans and Cody Mollett; granddaughters, Lindsay Beth Curtis and Swan Evans; and great-granddaughters, Spencer Mollett, Presley Mollett, and Kira Keifer.
In addition to his parents, Jan was preceded in death by one grandson, Justin Randal Curtis; three brothers Warren Dee Evans, Fred Evans, Jr. and, Eric L. Evans; six sisters, Agnes Conn, Louise Mays, Betty Waddell, Almeda Crum, Shirley Middleton, and twin sister Janice Reynolds; along with his lifelong best friend, Clyde “Johnnie” Smith; and his devoted canine companion, “Trevor”.
Family and friends are invited to a gathering on Monday, June 9, 2025, from 11:00AM – 1:00 PM at Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield. The service will follow at 1:00 PM.
